Your Body is a Lamborghini
Your Body is a Lamborghini

One of the most common questions we hear at vigor is “how do I control appetite?” While we do have medications to help with appetite control, a medication does not entirely solve decades of poor eating choices. Our goal, is to help you create sustained habits that you manage throughout the rest of your life whether you take a medication or not. We cannot solely rely on pharmaceuticals to improve our health, quality of life or longevity of life. It requires work and effort based on a desire to feel optimal.
Consistency is key.
You have to ask yourself how do I want to feel today? I commonly use the example of gas in a car. If you have a Lamborghini are you going to put 87 gas in it? Probably not. Your body is a Lamborghini and it needs adequate and high quality fuel because you can’t trade it in or upgrade it, you get ONE, how you treat your body matters!
The number one solution for appetite control is adequate protein intake. We recommend at the minimum 1 g per pound of ideal body weight (meaning what your goal weight is and based on weight loss/muscle maintenance or trying to gain muscle). And the beauty of maintaining a protein dominant diet? You can gain muscle AND lost fat at the same time!
Some examples for you:
- Muscle feast whey protein(@mrs.t_indy mixes this with espresso and fairlife skim milk)
- Egg whites with salsa (you can essentially eat egg whites anytime you are hungry)
- Chick pea pasta
- Beans, beans and more beans
- Lean GRASS FED sirloin beef
- Protein bars with low added sugar (many bars are crap so read label carefully)
- Order @flexx_nutrition meals, the work is done for you, multiple locations for pick up all over the city including our Greenwood office. Link also on top of our website. The meals are delicious.
- Eggs
- Chicken breast(white meat)
- Cottage cheese low fat
- Greek yogurt low sugar, low fat (fage zero percent can be unused in lieu of mayo for most recipes or mixed with fresh fruit by itself)
- Tuna salad made with 0% fage Greek yogurt
- Premiere Protein pre-made shakes or Fairlife pre-made shakes.
- On the go snacks, ie. “gas station snacks” - quest chips, beef/turkey jerky (no sugar/low sugar), legendary brand pastries, quest bars (these are not staples, just when you’re in a pinch and all there is, it’s a way to meet your protein goals while busy with kids, work, etc.)
- Low fat cheese sticks
We see this every day with patients. It is the number one dietary issue we hear. And while we do understand the issues with getting adequate protein daily (busy lifestyle, cost, taste), outside of vitamin d, it is the easiest way to make a nearly immediate difference toward your weigh loss and/or fitness goals.
While most of us will never have that Lambo, the same mindset applies to your body. As a society though, we tend to put less thought in to what we put in our bodies tank, than we do our car’s.
Eat Well,
@mr.t_indy and @mrs.t_indy
